2019 Corvette ZR1 Wins Motor Authority ‘Best Car to Buy’ Title

ZR1’s driveability, track-day pedigree, and low price compared to other supercars give the top-tier Corvette the win for 2019.

Are you in the market for a new Corvette? Why not consider the ZR1? It’s the top-tier ‘Vette on the market, with tons of power for the track, lots of style for the street, and plenty of drivability for the rush-hour commute.

Turns out we’re not the only ones to think so of the ZR1. Motor Authority has voted the Corvette its Best Car to Buy in 2019, taking the title from the 2018 recipient, the Honda Civic Type R.

The ZR1 beat out the likes of the Audi RS5, BMW M5, Ford Mustang GT Performance Pack 2, and Jaguar I-Pace for the 2019 title, thanks to having “an excellent base car” to build upon. For Motor Authority, the C7-era of the Corvette “is the best-driving Corvette yet,” one which the ZR1 builds upon.

The publication definitely approved of the ZR1’s aero and carbon-ceramic brakes, as well as the four radiators, carbon-fiber hood, and the rear wings that can be had with the top-tier ‘Vette. All of that, plus the supercharged 6.2-liter LT5 V8 putting out 755 horses and 715 lb-ft of torque, gives the ZR1 supercar performance at a much lower cost of entry than any Ferrari, Lamborghini, or Porsche.

Another plus for Motor Authority‘s assessment of the ZR1 is the fact that, despite its 212-mph top speed, 10.6-second quarter-mile, and zero to 60 mph time of 2.85 seconds, it won’t try to kill the driver, instead giving them the proud feeling of taking corners and straights like a pro.

Finally, the ZR1 is also capable of tackling the highway as well as it swings its weight around the track. From the infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, to heated and cooled seats and on-board Wi-Fi, anyone driving or riding in the ZR1 will have a comfortable trip, no matter the distance. It’s definitely earned its title as the Best Car to Buy in 2019.
